Turning waste into energy

Our approach to dealing with non-recyclable waste

Every year, we process over 39,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste at MVV Energy from Waste facility, near Plymouth.

 

This generates:

  • 22.5 megawatts of electricity.
  • 23.3 megawatts of heat. This is used to heat the neighbouring Devonport Naval Base.
  • 57,000 tonnes of ash. This is recycled and used as an aggregate substitute.
