We look after over 500 km of roads and 850 km of footpaths across the region. Our regular inspections make sure that we are quick to repair if the condition falls below the required standard.
Road maintenance
Our services
Winter gritting
Our fleet of six gritters have been built to order, with the latest software preloaded with different gritting routes. Our in-house garage is responsible for making sure our vehicles are serviced and ready to go as the colder months approach. In order to keep roads safe, we follow a plan that prioritises main routes, steep hills and areas around schools and hospitals.
Drainage and gully cleaning
Blocked drains and gullies can lead to flooding and road damage. We carry out regular cleansing on our network of 27,000 gullies, screens and buddle holes. Our responsive team also attends emergency callouts during heavy rainfall.
Pothole repairs
We conduct regular inspections across our highways network. Our reporting system captures essential details such as size and location so we can respond quickly to repair defects on roads, footpaths, and cycleways.
Road markings and line painting
Our team follows a regular maintenance programme to repaint and maintain road markings, including school zigzags and disabled bays.
Street lighting
We maintain streetlights across our highways network to help keep roads and walkways safe at night. Our reporting system allows residents to report damaged, flickering, or broken street lights, so that we can make repairs quickly.
Emergency callouts
We operate a 24/7 emergency response for highway hazards such as fallen trees, road collapses and flooding.
