Planned roadworks and emergency repairs sometimes mean temporary closures or traffic control measures. We manage everything, from signage and barriers to diversion routes and permits. We aim to keep disruption to a minimum.
Roadworks and traffic management
Our services
Roadworks and streetworks management
We coordinate and manage roadworks and streetworks to minimise disruption and keep the network moving. By planning works carefully and monitoring activity on the highway, we help maintain safe access for road users while essential maintenance and utility works take place.
Highways inspections
Our highways inspectors routinely assess road conditions to identify defects, safety issues and maintenance needs. Their findings help prioritise repairs and ensure the network remains safe, compliant and well‑maintained.
Traffic lights and signals
Our team looks after traffic lights and pedestrian crossings across our highways network. We regularly check them and fix problems quickly to help keep traffic moving safely.
Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs)
Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) are legal documents that allow your local council to make changes to how roads are used. This includes managing traffic flow, restricting parking and enforcing speed limits.
We support the implementation and enforcement of TROs. This includes:
- Parking restrictions and zones (for example, double yellow lines)
- One-way and prohibition orders
- Speed limit changes
- Temporary road closures
Highway licenses and permits
We issue licenses and permits for activities that affect the highway, such as events, scaffolding, and utility works. This ensures all activity is carried out safely, legally and with minimal impact on the public.
Road safety engineering
We analyse collision data and design targeted improvements to reduce risks on the network. Through measures such as junction upgrades, signage, road markings and speed management, we help make roads safer for all users.
Road signs and street name plates
We install, maintain and replace road signs and street name plates to ensure clear navigation and support safe travel. This includes regulatory signs, directional signs and local street identification.
Road adoptions
We assess and adopt new roads built by developers, ensuring they meet required standards before joining the public highway network. Once adopted, these roads become our responsibility to maintain and manage.
