An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Material Sampler & Weighbridge Operator to join our Waste Disposal Team at the Waste Transfer Station. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, detail-focused, and committed to ensuring compliance within a busy operational environment.

You will play a vital role in helping SWISCo meet its legal obligations under the Environmental Permit by undertaking material sampling and operating the weighbridge accurately and efficiently.

Employment details

 

·         Salary: £26,403 - £28,142 

·         Job type: Permanent

·         Hours: Fulltime, 37 hours per week

·         Working hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 16:00

 

 

About the role

 

As a Material Sampler & Weighbridge Operator, you will:

 

  • Carry out sampling of recycling materials in line with legislative requirements
  • Collect, record, and collate data to ensure compliance with Environmental Permit conditions
  • Operate the weighbridge, ensuring all vehicle movements, weights, and waste types are recorded accurately
  • Support daily operational requirements within the waste transfer station
  • Work collaboratively as part of Team SWISCo to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency

This role requires attention to detail and the ability to balance compliance tasks alongside operational demands in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Ensuring the material sampling is undertaken in accordance with legislation
  • Preparing Environment Agency Quarterly Returns
  • Weighing internal and external vehicles as part of weighbridge operations
  • Ensuring compliance documentation is completed correctly

 

What we are looking for

  • Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team, to include those from other teams and service areas.

  • Ability to take direction and work in an inclusive manner

 

Knowledge

  • Effective knowledge of Health & Safety processes.
  • Effective knowledge, understanding of data protection and confidentiality.

 

Experience

  • Able to demonstrate and in-still trust to staff members at all levels, clients/customers, and the general public.
  • Previous experience of operating a weighbridge and related software system.

 

Qualifications

  • Hold relevant weighbridge competency certificate
