An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operative Level 3 (Plant Operator) to join our Waste Disposal Team at the Waste Transfer Station. Employment details

 

·         Salary: £26,403 - £28,142 

·         Job type: Permanent

·         Hours: Fulltime, 37 hours per week

·         Working hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 16:00

 

 

About the role

 

As an Operative Level 3, you will:

  • Operate a range of plant and machinery within the transfer station
  • Support the safe and efficient processing of waste and recycling
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations across the site
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety
  • Work flexibly to respond to the demands of a busy operational environment

 

You will play a key role as part of Team SWISCo, ensuring waste collected across Torbay is managed effectively and prepared for onward transport.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Operating plant and machinery, such as forklifts, loading shovel and telehandlers to load and unload recycling and waste
  • Keeping the transfer station, equipment and plant clean and tidy
  • Assisting customers in disposing of recycling and waste in the correct areas
  • Undertaking preventative maintenance tasks

 

What we are looking for

 

Essential

Skills and Effectiveness

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, to include those from other teams and service areas.
  • Ability to meet targets and respond to operational demand, including conflicting priorities
  • Ability to follow direction and work in an inclusive manner

 

Knowledge

  • Effective knowledge of Health & Safety processes
  • Effective knowledge of how to operate plant and machinery such as forklift truck, loading shovel and material handler.

 

Experience

  • Able to demonstrate and in-still trust to staff members at all levels, clients/customers, and the general public.
  • Previous experience of operating plant and machinery such as forklift truck loading shovel and material handler

 

Qualifications

  •  Hold relevant plant and/or machinery operator licence, such as loading shovel and material handler
  • Full UK Driving Licence
